Your Go Goodwins, Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the signing of British defenceman, Zach Sullivan ahead of the 2019/20 season!

The young British blueliner is confirmed as Ryan Finnerty’s first new signing, ahead of the 2019-20 EIHL campaign.

At the relatively young age of 24, Sullivan has plenty of experience, with more than 250 EIHL appearances and 5 international caps for Great Britain – helping GB get promoted to top flight hockey, winning a gold medal in 2018. Sullivan is also the two-time recipient of the Young British Player of the Year award (2015 and 2016) and a four-time Gardiner Conference champion. However, the right-handed blueliner will be heading into Manchester with a point to prove, after narrowly missing out on the GB squad for this years World Championships.

The stay-at-home defenceman has previously worked under the tutelage of Ryan Finnerty . The Head Coach had this to say about his latest recruit:

“I have coached Sully for 3 years and watched him develop into a confident and dependable defenceman in this league. He makes good plays under pressure and takes pride in his own end. I am looking forward to working with Zach once again, next season”.

The addition of Zach Sullivan continues the trend of Ryan Finnerty’s recruitment, as the onus on securing a solid group of defencemen is vital for success in today’s EIHL. Furthermore, Sullivan’s preference for playing on the right-side in defence will enable the Storm added flexibility in the match night line-ups, negating the pairing issues caused by injury during the 2018-19 season.

Sullivan is now the second confirmed member of the Storm and with more signings close to completion, this really is an exciting time to be a Storm fan!
