Storm round out pre-season with away defeat to Flames, shift focus to league opener

Storm rounded out their pre-season fixtures with an away defeat against the Guildford Flames.

After a bright start, Jordy Stallard opened the scoring at 9:47 with a sweet one-timer after some great work from Zac Herrmann. The scores were level at the first interval though after McNulty bundled in a scrappy leveller at 16:26. Tyson Fawcett dropped the gloves with Ferguson on the buzzer to mark a feisty end to the period.

The second period saw play move end to end but Storm were unable to find a way past Burman in the Flames’ net. Locke put Flames ahead at 22:27 on a delayed penalty and Eriksson scored a third from close range at 33:01.

A final period flurry for the Flames padded the scoreline to 6-1 with goals from Ripplinger, Crinella, and Marklund. Captain Cam Critchlow was named Storm man of the match, with Tait taking the accolades for the home side.

Storm’s attention now moves to the opening Elite League fixture at home to the Coventry Blaze on Saturday 10th September. It’s going to be a cracker and we’d love to see you there! Tickets for this fixture can be purchased online HERE or by calling 0161-926-8782. Doors open 6PM for a 7PM start.
