STORM FORECAST – Storm vs Sheffield Steelers
It’s action all the way this weekend as Manchester Storm get ready for another two big games, criss-crossing the Scottish border in the process.
The weekend begins with a trip to Tayside to take on Dundee Stars at Dundee Ice Arena before the team return to the Storm Shelter, where Sheffield Steelers lie in wait to finish off the weekend.
We’ll tell you all you need to know about that one in due course, but if you’re keen to see the Dundee game, you still can by taking the trip up or catch the game on the Stars TV webcast.
Tickets are available here to purchase and you can find the webcast here, if you’d rather stay in and watch. Face off on Saturday is at 7pm.
NEXT IN THE STORM SHELTER…
Once the trip to Dundee is completed, it’s all back to the Storm Shelter for a Sunday meeting with Sheffield Steelers and a chance to end the weekend in the best possible way.
Aaron Fox and his men will have something to say about that in their first visit to Manchester this season, knowing how the last meeting went between them.
Storm stormed back from 3-0 to take the Challenge Cup tie to overtime, where Steelers won out in the end when the teams meet in September.
It’s a fresh page and a chance to take those points back in the latest chapter of this new season. Face off is at 5:30pm on Sunday.
TICKETS/WEBCAST
Tickets are still available for the clash so there’s still time to buy yours at the time of posting.
You can buy yours online at this website or alternatively they can also be purchased by calling 0161 926 8782 or in person at the Planet Ice Altrincham Box Office.
If you can’t make it, not to worry. You can cheer on the Storm wherever you are with our game night webcast, available to purchase on Manchester Storm TV as we take you through the action.
Tune in and be part of another big night of hockey in Manchester!
COACH’S COMMENTS
Storm coach Cameron Critchlow is looking to right the wrong of Saturday’s performance and loss in Guildford as he turns his focus to the weekend.
It’s off to Dundee first as Manchester return to league duty and a fixture that is generally a closely fought affair.
And the coach refuses to look too much into Stars’ league form and knows his players need to be at their best.
“Friday was a strong effort coming from behind in the third period was a good response to see from our team,” he said. “However, Saturday we weren’t very happy with our performance so we’re looking to right that wrong this weekend.
“Dundee is never a easy place to go in and win. They have a big team that impose physicality on their opponents so we will need our best to go into that rink and win.
“We know that their recent results (in the league) don’t reflect how they can play, At the end of the day, we will expect their best and we will need to be sharp for a full 60 minutes.”
PLAYER TO WATCH
Kevin Tansey (Sheffield Steelers) – Currently in his third season, Tansey is very much the epitome of a player head coach Aaron Fox can rely on.
A strong and dependable defenceman, with great physicality and good on the puck, the Steelers alternate captain can weigh in with some crucial points when required.
If Storm’s speed can make life difficult for someone as skilled and as composed as Tansey, there could be openings to exploit.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Last month, Manchester Storm made the trip to the Utilita Arena for the first meeting of the season between the sided and it became something of a seven-goal thriller
