Welcome to the weekend! It may have only been a couple of weeks, but it’s felt like ages.

The Storm are back in action as they prepare to host Nottingham Panthers and it’s a special night we get to Air our Bears (more info below) – but for both teams, it’s all about those Elite League points.

NEXT IN THE STORM SHELTER…

Danny Stewart’s Nottingham Panthers are in the house for this latest Elite League offering and while Storm players got to take it easy last week, Panthers took a three-game road trip to Scotland.

Five points out of six later, they are here and ready to resume their push for the title this season. 

With some very capable players in their ranks this season, they are definitely proving themselves as a worthy challenger and will be see the Storm Shelter as a place to pick points to help them achieve that.  Manchester’s players will have other ideas.

AIR THE BEAR

Postponed from last Friday, tonight is our Air the Bear night where we’re encouraging you to bring your bears and cuddly toys, ready to throw on to the ice when Manchester score their first goal.

It’s an event popular across ice hockey and sight of the toys make their way on to the surface is something to really enjoy.

If you’ve never been part of an Air the Bear night, this handy guide will fill you in on all you need to know.

19 Sep – Manchester 1 Nottingham 3 (Challenge Cup)

04 Oct – Nottingham 3 Manchester 6 (Challenge Cup)

07 Nov – Nottingham 6 Manchester 2 (Elite League)

Today will be the fourth meeting of the season, with Panthers winning two of the three meetings so far.

Panthers are currently top of the table on 30 points from 18 games, while Storm remain in fifth with 19 points from 15 outings.

 

LAST TIME OUT

Nottingham claimed the points in this meeting at the Motorpoint Arena last month, getting the best possible response to Brady Gilmour’s goal after only 11 seconds. Gilmour scored Storm’s other goal that day, with Stephen Johnson and Gary Haden adding helpers to both goals.

CHUCK A PUCK

It’s exactly what it says.  Chuck a foam puck in the direction of Lightning Jack, standing on centre ice and if your puck is the closest, you win a commemorative puck AND a replica jersey of your choice (terms and conditions apply).

You know what to do.  Purchase those pucks (£1 each) and find a great position at the second period break from where you can chuck that puck.  Good luck!
