Boxing Day means Elite League hockey and after Tuesday’s visit from Dundee Stars, it’s straight back to action with another EIHL rival coming to the Storm Shelter.

NEXT IN THE STORM SHELTER…

For the fourth year in a row, we’re pleased to welcome Guildford Flames to the Storm Shelter and no doubt will be another Christmas cracker.

Paul Dixon’s side picked up a huge win on Sunday against the league leaders, Nottingham Panthers so certainly won’t be fazed by anything likely to happen here.

Both teams have similar records going into this one so it’s hard to know what way it will go.  However Storm have won in the three meetings at home over the Flames on Boxing Day so fingers crossed.

THE STORY SO FAR

17 Oct – Manchester 3 Guildford 2 OT (Challenge Cup)

18 Oct – Guildford 6 Manchester 3 (Challenge Cup)

For the first time this season, these two teams meet on league duty tonight, but they have crossed paths in the Challenge Cup, winning a game each with the home side victorious on both occasions.

Storm’s penalty shooutout win over Dundee Stars on Tuesday puts them back in the top half of the table, going above Glasgow Clan with 23 points from 19 games.

Flames are two behind on 21 points, having played 21 games and sit in seventh place so it’s nice and tight in that mid-table area.

 

LAST TIME OUT

The second of the two Challenge Cup meetings back in October saw Storm head for Guildford, fresh from a 3-2 overtime win in the Storm Shelter, but on this occasion, couldn’t replicate the feat at the Spectrum.

CHUCK A PUCK

It’s exactly what it says.  Chuck a foam puck in the direction of Lightning Jack, standing on centre ice and if your puck is the closest, you win a commemorative puck AND a replica jersey of your choice (terms and conditions apply).

You know what to do.  Purchase those pucks (£1 each) and find a great position at the second period break from where you can chuck that puck.  Good luck!
