STORM ADD POWER FORWARD JAKE BRICKNELL AHEAD OF UPCOMING SEASON

Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the signing of forward Jake Bricknell, most recently of Maine Mariners (ECHL).

The Ontario native has made over 200 major junior appearances in the OHL with Belleville Bulls, Hamilton Bulldogs and Guelph Storm, between 2013 and 2017.

His prolonged time in the major juniors saw him captain Aurora Tigers (OJHL) in the 2017-18 season – for his final junior campaign. An impressive 99 points (35G 64A) in just 53 games saw Bricknell named to the First All-Star team, as the Tigers had a deep play-off run.

A move to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology would see Bricknell combine his academic studies with hockey for the next two years. Over this two-year stint, the centre would produce 48 points (20G 28A) in 51 appearances whilst sharing the dressing room with several current and former EIHL players.

A one-year hockey hiatus was ended when Bricknell signed with Kansas City Mavericks (ECHL) in August 2021. His rookie season in the ECHL was split between Kansas City Mavericks and Maine Mariners in 39 professional games the forward has 9 points (3G 6A) and 55 PIM’s.

HC Matt Ginn had this to say about signing up another forward:

Jake is a power forward that enjoys finishing his checks and takes pride in his d-zone work. He is going to be really effective on the forecheck in our rink and will enjoy throwing his weight around. Our franchise has had some outstanding power forwards and I am confident in Jake continuing in this lineage.

Jake possesses a really heavy shot; he has a great release and enjoys putting pressure on the opposition crease. I feel like we have unearthed a hidden gem with boundless potential to make an impact on a nightly basis for our line-up.”
