First Period

Manchester Storm claimed two points in the Elite Series against ‘hosts’ Sheffield Steelers in five goal thriller!

British netminder, Warburton was the starter in net for Steelers against Bonar for Storm.

In the first few minutes, Warburton made an amazing save across the net, stealing first chances for Storm on a shot from Lake.

Fortier picked up a loose puck, sending it home from between the hash marks at 09:22, the assist going to Simmonds.

Lundell Noer and Gran had chances for Storm’s second goal on an odd man rush, saved by Warburton.

Despite chances for both sides with one powerplay apiece, the Storm lead 0-1 after the first 20 minutes.

Connolly was handed a tripping penalty at 53:03. Klavestad scored his first of the series on the powerplay, shooting through traffic from the blue line against the ‘hosts’, assisted by Gran and Fortier at 53:29.

Working in Storm’s favour, Mikyska was handed four minutes for hooking and unsportsmanlike conduct minutes later, allowing Long to score on a one timer, via a pass from Fawcett on the powerplay at 57:04.

Determined to close the two goal gap, Schulze scored on a back hand pass from Olden, shorthanded at 59:03

Warburton was pulled in the final minute of play, but Bonar kept any potential goals out, Storm claiming the win, 2-3.
