BREAKING | Scott Simmonds returns to Manchester ahead of Elite League season

Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the return of forward Scott Simmonds for the 2021-22 season.

The excellent two-way forward was our leading point getter for the Elite Series, with an impressive 6 goals and 12 assists in just 14 appearances.

In his first professional season, Simmonds had 22 points (12G 10A) in 49 EIHL matches. Yet, his all-round play on the ice and off-ice exploits were palpable within the Shelter and quickly saw him become a fan favourite.

Head Coach, Ryan Finnerty, had this to say about retaining Scott for another campaign:

Simmer was outstanding in the Elite Series and those matches were of an incredibly high standard. He led the group in points and his play all-over the ice trumped some pedigree imports in the mini league. As a result, it made keeping hold off him even harder – but I am delighted to be able to have him in our line-up.

Scott gives us an unrivalled tenacity on the ice, flexibility in the line-up and with previous knowledge of the league – I feel like 2021-22 could well be his real breakout year. I know how much he loves the fans and the city, so it was always a priority of ours to get him back in the Storm colours. I am just delighted that it all came together and his loyalty is something we are looking to instil across the roster, as we continue to develop and grow our core players.”

Welcome back to Manchester, Scott!
