Manchester Storm are delighted to welcome blueliner Andreas Klavestad from Stavanger Oilers.
The smooth-skating Norwegian had spent the entirety of his professional career in Scandinavia until the pandemic cut their season short.
A right-handed shot with 272 appearances in Norway’s top division has seen Klavestad split his time between Sparta Sarpsborg and Stavanger Oilers.
The consistent play of Klavestad has seen him earn international caps in 2017 and 2019, and develop into a capable Top 4 defencemen in the highly competitive Eliteserien and he will join-up with the Storm squad sporting a highly impressive +/- of 28 cumulative in his past three seasons.
Head Coach, Ryan Finnerty, had this to say about his latest recruit:
“Andreas brings exactly what we need at the back: speed, high hockey IQ, excellent vision and a wealth of experience in one of Europe’s top divisions.
Another bonus is his right-handed shot, as we have needed this sort of player for a while now to balance out the guys we have at the back. I know his ability will only compliment the British guys we have already under contract.
I will be expecting him to log the type of minutes Dally has been doing over the past couple of seasons and I know how excited he is for this opportunity.”
Welcome to Manchester, Andreas!
