BREAKING | Harry Gulliver to replace Declan Balmer ahead of #2021EliteSeries

Manchester Storm are excited to welcome young British forward Harry Gulliver into their Elite Series squad.

An unexpected work commitment has unfortunately ruled out Declan Balmer for the duration of the tournament and the club have moved swiftly to find a replacement. Gulliver has most recently represented Raiders IHC in the NIHL Cup with 3 goals and 2 assists in 10 games. Before this, the young Brit spent four seasons in Utah with Ogden Mustangs where he produced 162 points (63G 99A) in 164 appearances.

The changes to the roster will likely see Ben Solder step-up into the matchday line-up, as a like-for-like swap with Declan Balmer. The recent matchday amendments by the league allow for 20 skaters to be dressed and 23 skaters to be available for selection, with the taxi-squad system no longer in operation.

Head Coach, Ryan Finnerty, had this to say about the enforced changes:

It is a real shame to lose Balms, we know what he brings to the ice and with over 150 games in the top-flight he had already carved out a role for himself in Manchester. On the flip side, it is great we have been able to bring in Harry on such short-notice and it gives another young Brit an opportunity to earn a contract in the EIHL.

I am excited to bring this group together and train with them, as the club will have five Brits under the age of 21. They will be battling it out for spots in the line-up and contracts next season and this type of healthy competition will only push the club in the right direction
.”

Welcome to Manchester, Harry!
