WENINGER SHUTS OUT PANTHERS, STORM MAKE IT THREE WINS IN THREE

An impressive team performance and resolute defence saw the Storm extend their winning streak to three games with 3-0 victory over Nottingham Panthers. The Storm thought they’d scored in the first minute of the game, on the powerplay, only for it to be washed off and a technical glitch deterred the officials from being able to have a second look.

An excellent shot from Garcia was perfectly deflected by the in-form Hinam to give Manchester a deserved one-goal advantage, in the 12th minute of the match. A second goal review of the game for the Storm was again in vein, as the middle stanza came and went with very few scoring opportunities being fashioned beyond this moment. The evenness of the match was reflected in a shot count of 27-23, in favour of Notttingham, after two periods, as Weninger and Stojanovic continued to match each other save for save through 40 minutes.

The midweek contract extension handed out to Hinam was reinforced as an excellent piece of business when the Canadian forward danced his way into the zone to score his and the Storm’s second of the night. The moment of individual brilliance saw Hinam weave through the Panthers dance before firing a wristshot beyond Stojanovic’s blocker. The attacking move to pull the netminder by Nottingham enabled Ehrhardt to shot from his own zone into a vacant Panthers net to ensure the points would be remaining in Manchester with a 3-0 victory.
