WEEK AHEAD – The power of three
No hanging about this week as Manchester Storm go straight into a busy week with three games to come, two of which involve trips on the road.
We’re into the final couple of months of the season and the points, if they weren’t already, get ever more important as the play-offs begin to loom into view.
Here’s what’s coming up in another action packed week to come over the next seven days.
Wednesday 4th February
Dundee Stars vs Manchester Storm (Dundee Ice Arena, Face off 7:30pm)
TICKETS
WEBCAST
The week begins with a road trip to Dundee and Storm face a team who enjoyed a three-point weekend so confidence will be higher for a team who haven’t had a lot to celebrate this season.
That won’t faze Cameron Critchlow’s men who have enjoyed a degree of success themselves and with three wins from the last four trips to Dundee Ice Arena, Manchester could be favourites in the eyes of some.
Nothing’s ever for granted in this league though and a win would set the tone for the rest of the week in another crucial week of games.
DID YOU KNOW?
Since joining the Elite League in 2015, Manchester Storm have scored a total of 305 goals across all Scottish arenas, 82 of which have been in Dundee.
Saturday 7th February
Manchester Storm vs Sheffield Steelers (The Storm Shelter, Face off 7:00pm)
TICKETS
WEBCAST
For the second Saturday in a row, Sheffield Steelers are back in the Storm Shelter and still looking for a first league win of the season in this building.
Memories will still be fresh from Saturday’s meeting between the teams, but a new day means a new game and another opportunity to gain the points.
Only in one previous season have Manchester completed a clean sweep of home wins over the Steelers in a campaign. The opportunity is there to achieve it again, with your help, Storm fans.
DID YOU KNOW?
Saturday’s penalty shots victory over Sheffield Steelers was the third time Storm have came out on top on home ice through a shootout, all have which have ended 4-3 in the end.
Sunday 8th February
Guildford Flames vs Manchester Storm (Guildford Spectrum, Face off 6:00pm)
TICKETS
WEBCAST
The weekend draws to a close in the confines of the Guildford Spectrum and a venue that is a notoriously difficult one, going by previous results.
That’s not to say this one is a forgone conclusion – far from it – but the points won’t come easy against a Guildford team who are also looking for a higher spot in the play-off race.
Recent meetings have been one-goal games and with 11 of the last 13 games between the sides favouring the home side, it would be a great night tfor Storm to tilt the balance the other way as the away team.
DID YOU KNOW?
Of the five league meetings at the Spectrum where the games have gone to overtime or a shootout, Storm have won three of them.
