Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the return of Canadian defenceman Brendon Clavelle for the 2026/27 Elite League season.

 

After an outstanding rookie professional campaign in Manchester, Clavelle has committed his future to the Storm despite attracting significant interest from clubs across Europe.

 

The 26-year-old blueliner quickly established himself as one of the club’s most dependable defencemen during his first season in professional hockey, logging heavy minutes in all situations and cementing his place on the Storm’s top defensive pairing.

 

In 54 Elite League appearances, Clavelle recorded 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points, while consistently matching up against the opposition’s top forwards and playing a key role on both special teams units.

 

Originally from Kapuskasing, Ontario, Clavelle arrived in Manchester following a successful five-year USports career and a stint with the Laval Rocket in the AHL. His composure on the puck, skating ability and strong defensive awareness made him an immediate success in the Elite League.

 

Head Coach Cam Critchlow shared his thoughts on securing Clavelle’s return:

 

“Brendon had a tremendous first year as a professional and became a hugely important player for us. He played big minutes every night, competed against the league’s best players and showed a level of consistency that is difficult to find in a young defenceman.

We’re delighted to have him back. There was strong interest in him from elsewhere in Europe, which is no surprise given the season he had, so retaining him was a major priority for us. We believe there’s even more to come from Brendon and we’re excited to see him continue his development in a Storm jersey.”

Clavelle spoke of his delight to be returning for another year:

“I’m really excited to be back in Manchester. The fans and the organization made me feel at home right away, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to return.

I’m looking forward to getting back to work with the guys and helping the team build on what we started.”
