Storm Secure Promising Netminder Tyler de la Bertouche in Two-Way Development Move

Manchester Storm are delighted to confirm the signing of 19-year-old goaltender Tyler de la Bertouche on a two-way development deal.

Tyler will continue playing with the Deeside Dragons in NIHL 1, while also joining Storm’s training squad and being available for Elite League selection.

De la Bertouche, a dual national (UK and Sweden), developed through the Haringey Hounds youth programme, later appearing with the Peterborough Phantoms and Bristol Pitbulls in the NIHL. Most recently, he featured for the Bristol Pitbulls during the 2024–25 NIHL season, recording seven games with a save percentage of .857.

This two-way deal ensures he receives consistent match time with Deeside in NIHL 1, while gaining exposure to Elite League standards through regular training and potential inclusion in Manchester Storm’s matchday roster. It bolsters Storm’s depth in goal and supports the club’s pathway for nurturing homegrown talent into senior EIHL competition.

Storm Head Coach Cam Critchlow commented:

“Tyler has matured significantly through his appearances at NIHL level, and his work ethic has stood out. This agreement gives him the elite-level development environment, while regular ice time with Deeside ensures he keeps improving. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Michael Clancy, Head Coach of the Deeside Dragons, added:

“We’re extremely proud to see Tyler take this important next step in his development. He’s shown real maturity and consistency in his performances with both Peterborough and Bristol last season, and this two-way agreement will see him get consistent game time with the Dragons. It reflects the development pathway the club is creating alongside Manchester Storm.

From a coaching standpoint, this arrangement is ideal. It gives Tyler the chance to train and learn at the highest domestic level, while still getting quality minutes in NIHL 1. We’re excited to support him through this opportunity and look forward to seeing him grow both on and off the ice.”

Both clubs look forward to supporting Tyler’s journey as he transitions into higher-level hockey and continues to build on his considerable promise.
