CHALLENGE CUP
FINAL

Manchester Storm forward Anton Karlsson is looking forward to the experience of returning to Fife Ice Arena this Saturday - but wonders if it will be as enjoyable as he remembers.
The Swedish forward will return to Kirkcaldy for Storm in the team’s only game of the weekend for the first time since leaving Fife to join Manchester over the summer.
And, like everyone else around the league, he has watched their early season progress with interest under their coach, Tim Wallace.
It will be fun to go back to Fife,
Karlsson said on the latest edition of StormCast.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and the fans. I don’t think they hate me at least, but it will be nice to go back.
I think there are only two guys left on the roster from last season - Garet Hunt and Mason Alderson, but I believe it’s going to be a good night.
I think I’ll just go there and enjoy it. My time in Fife, I had some good games and put a lot of effort in.
I think they have a strong team and you can see it when they play. They’re working really hard and battling in every shift and it seems like they’ve built a good group of guys too.
They’ve had a good start to the season and it’ll be fun for them. I’m definitely looking forward to going back to the rink. It’s a good place to play so it will be interesting if I enjoy it as much as an opposition player.
Karlsson scored twice over the weekend including the important equaliser that took Sunday’s game against Belfast Giants to overtime.
He says that despite the run of form, there is work to be done and remains confident it will all come good in the end.
We need all the points we can get and I think we’ve been playing pretty good,
he added.
It just seems like we let our standards slip for 10-15 minutes. We have played some tight games, but we need more.
I’m still learning my line mates about how and when they want the puck and I think we need to build some chemistry. The team is making steps, but we’ve some tough, tight games, but we’re not worried.
It’s always important to get those points to help the team do something good. We’ve lost four of the last five and we’re losing in overtime or in a shootout, which is tough.
It’s still early and I think as long as the season goes on and the group stays together, it’s going to be a great one.
