StormCast Episode 15: Nardi has no doubts of Storm return

Podcast

Manchester Storm forward Joe Nardi says he had no doubts about signing on for season two with the club after the first impressions made a favourable mark.

Joe was the latest guest on StormCast - the official Manchester Storm podcast - as he reflected on his first impressions of life at the Storm.

Which is why the decision to sign on again was made all the more easier for him when it came to weighing up his future.

It was really easy,

he said.

You never know what to expect when you into a new city and a new organisation.  Last year, I signed a little later than I would have liked to.

But the minute we were picked up in London, it was an easy transition. It felt like a family from the start and I think the staff and ownership do a really great job of establishing that culture for your team.

I started to catch on quickly and I found that I liked the team and the players that were brought in and that carried on month after month.  From the fanbase to the team to the organisation, it felt like family from the get go.

When you’re given an opportunity to play and the coach trusts you, that also helps so once the summer came around the talks began, I didn’t really consider anything else. It was always Manchester for me.

Joe also looked back on a memorable season that ended with a sixth place finish and a spot in the play-off finals weekend.

But he’s more excited at what lies ahead on the cusp of a new campaign that sees the Storm about to call the AO Arena home again.

He added:

Last year, not that there wasn’t expectation, there was a different team, we were playing at Planet Ice and it was one of those things where we just waited to see how the season went.

As it progressed, you could see the team was getting better and better and the fans were getting more and more excited too.

To see the success we had last year and turning into having a new arena and that being our new home, our fans are really excited, which they should be and the management have done a good job in bringing in new players that will help us a ton.

We’re all excited for this year and build on what we did last year so it’s up to us to make sure we give a good product for the fans.
