StormCast Episode 10 | Karlsson raring to go after extended summer

Manchester Storm forward Anton Karlsson is finally ready to put his prolonged summer behind him and get back to action for his new team.

The 30-year-old Swede saw his first season in the UK cut short, which saw him leave Fife Flyers in February.

But six months later, he’s excited for his return to the Motorpoint Elite League and the opportunity to play in Manchester with the Storm.

I’ve had a couple more months to work out and get ready this summer, when I signed the contract, I was so excited so I’ve been working hard to be ready.

It’s been a long time for me.  I last played in February and I’m so excited for the chance to come to Manchester and do something good. For me, coming to Manchester, that’s a big step for me going from Fife.  I had a good season in Fife, but when I spoke with everyone, it felt like the right move.

If you ask me if the move to the arena was a factor, I would be lying if I said no.   When I spoke with Ryan (Finnerty), he told they wanted to build something new and the club was in a really good spot.  I really want to be part of that journey.

Karlsson made only 24 appearances for Fife, but made his debut in the Storm Shelter against Manchester in an 11-goal thriller, a game that saw Flyers take a 6-5 overtime win.

And he recalled his introduction to Motorpoint Elite League life, a game where he picked up a goal and an assist for the Kirkcaldy side.

From my first game for Fife in Manchester, it was a good start to see how the game worked in the UK. From there, I really liked it. The rink maybe wasn’t the prettiest I’d ever been to, but they were fun games and it was always good whenever we played against Manchester, but it will be certainly be more fun to play with them.

The fans were loud and I enjoyed playing there.  I can’t wait to hear them in the bigger arena.
