Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the return of defenceman Kyle Locke, who will head into his second season with the club and sixth campaign in the Motorpoint Elite Ice Hockey League.
The 30-year-old Canadian returns to the Storm after making 44 appearances last season, registering 10 points from two goals and eight assists, all while being a mainstay in the top four.
Locke’s first campaign in Manchester was delayed slightly by injury, but once back on the ice, he established himself as a dependable and physical presence on the Storm blueline. Normally a stand out player for his physicality, Locke provided the Storm with a steady defensive option throughout the campaign and underlined the value of blending aggression with composure.
His experience and understanding of the EIHL have also made him a valuable member of the defensive group, with the Canadian now boasting 210 EIHL appearances alongside many returning skaters.
Head Coach Critchlow has once again maintained the balance of left- and right-handed defencemen that worked so effectively for the Storm last season.
Locke's return is an important part of that structure and balance that gives Critchlow greater flexibility when constructing his defensive
pairings.
Kyle is someone that knows the league, what it requires and his off-ice standard help set the tone for the rest of our group. I am delighted with how the roster has shaped up and with the season just a couple weeks away I cannot wait to get things rolling at the AO.
Manchester Storm Head Coach, Cam Critchlow
I am extremely grateful and excited to be apart of this next chapter with the storm. We have lots to be happy about with last season, but it’s not good enough and we’re excited to continue building. Manchester already feels like home, and I can’t wait to get back in front of the fans, experience the new arena and continue building something with the guys and staff that everyone can be proud of.
