Storm Partner with Rebels Inline Hockey Club

Partners

We are delighted to announce a partnership with Rebels Inline hockey club, to open up the wheeled version of the sport to a much wider audience. Eagle eyed fans may have seen the Rebels advert on the jumbotron, and wondered what it was all about.

Rebels were formed in 2008, and in the last 18 seasons have operated senior teams at various levels of inline/roller hockey, in various leagues across both the North West and beyond. They have featured players who have played at the highest level of the game, with GB and international tournament experience. Rebels can also count former Storm goalie Phil Pearson as one of their alumni. Pearson backed up to starting goalie Jason Bacashihuam towards the end of the 21/22 season. With the newly formed partnership with the Storm, the aim is now to form a junior program, to enable players new and old to discover another form of the sport.

We’re extremely excited to partner with the Storm, as we look to move into a new chapter of our own clubs history. A large percentage of our current roster discovered the sport through the first coming of the Storm in the 90s. Ice time wasn’t as accessible, and inline/roller hockey became the equivalent for kids trying to get into the sport. Inline hockey boomed, especially in North & Central Manchester, with the emergence of players who have gone on to play at the highest level. It’s a credit to what the Storm did in the 90s that so many of those original players are still playing, or have returned in recent years. With the ice hockey on the up again, and the Storm back at the AO, we are hoping this partnership allows players to rediscover or try for the first time, a different and exciting form of the sport.
