Manchester Storm Sign Experienced Canadian Forward David Morley

News

Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the signing of experienced Canadian forward David Morley, most recently of Eisbären Regensburg (DEL2).

Born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Morley enjoyed a solid junior career in Canada, developing his game with the Aurora Tigers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) before progressing to the Victoria Grizzlies in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

Morley subsequently joined St. Cloud State University, spending five seasons in the NCAA with the Huskies. During his time in Minnesota, he established himself as a productive forward, recording 118 points (51G 67A) in 150 appearances.

Following his time in North America, Morley made the move to European hockey, joining Lillehammer in Norway ahead of the 2016–17 season. He quickly established himself as one of the league’s most effective offensive players, showcasing the creativity and playmaking ability that would become hallmarks of his professional career.

Across his time in Norway with Lillehammer, Stavanger Oilers and Frisk Asker, Morley recorded 314 points (104G 210A) in 240 regular-season appearances. His performances earned individual recognition, including selection to the Norwegian All-Star Team and league-leading assist totals during the 2017–18 and 2021–22 seasons.

The 2023–24 campaign saw Morley move to Italy to join HC Pustertal in the ICE Hockey League. He adapted well to another competitive European environment, recording 39 points in 41 regular- season games before adding a further 14 points in 14 playoff appearances.

Most recently, Morley featured for Eisbären Regensburg in Germany’s DEL2. Across two regular seasons with the club, he recorded 71 points (31G 40A) in 70 appearances whilst helping to ensure they maintained their league status in his debut season with the franchise.

The playmaking forward will arrive in Manchester and slot into the line-up ahead of the busy schedule that lies ahead.

To be able to bring in someone of David’s experience is huge for our group. His proven offensive production, vision and ability to create scoring opportunities will add valuable creativity and experience to our line-up. I am looking forward to welcoming him to the group.

Manchester Storm Head Coach, Cameron Critchlow

I’m really excited to be joining the Storm! Manchester are a team I have been following from a distance for a while now. I have heard so many wonderful things about the city and its fans. To be joining a settled group with plenty of experience is also a huge plus for me. I am delighted to be playing out of the AO Arena for the remainder of the campaign. Let’s go Storm.
