StormCast Episode 9: Kudla had no qualms about the Storm

Podcast

New Manchester Storm defenceman Patrick Kudla has revealed it didn’t take much for him to be sold on the prospect of a move to the city.

The 30-year-old Guelph native is adding the Motorpoint Elite League to his travel passport after previous European spells in Czechia, Slovakia and most recently, Austria.

But, as he explained the brand new episode of StormCast, the move to Manchester was one that ticked a lot of boxes for him.

I spoke to a lot of players who have played there before and other people who have played in the league, I also have friends that live in the UK who don’t play hockey who told me about the city and what the culture is like.

I also looked at what the team have been doing in recent years and the climb they’ve been making.  Plus moving to the new arena is a huge building stone for this club.

It’s got a lot of people excited and it shows that the support is growing in Manchester.  When I spoke with the coach, he didn’t really have to sell it to me.  He told me what they’re going through and what they’re about.

He also spoke wanting good hockey players but wanting good people first so the guys I’ve spoken  to on the team already, they’re all class acts and down to earth and that makes being a team much easier.

Kudla’s addition to the roster was announced earlier this month as the final touches to Cameron Critchlow’s team takes shape.

And the Canadian defenceman also spoke of how much he’s looking to getting to know the Storm fans when the action starts towards the end of the month.

I’m super excited to meet the fans, I’ve heard a lot of good things, who are passionate and care about the team and are excited about the move to this big space.

It means there’s going to be more room for them and more room for new fans too so I can’t wait to come over and see everyone.

I love the Meet and Greets and meeting the people that are passionate in supporting us.  They don’t have to do it.  They make a choice and they’re always there through the wins and losses.

They care and it’s something I’m also passionate about and I can’t wait to meet them.
