A night filled with much promise, saw the Go Goodwins Manchester Storm skate away empty handed, as we were shut out on home ice by the Coventry Blaze.

The Storm were minus Eric Neilson & Patrik Valcak from the lineup. Coventry Blaze came into the game at full strength.

The first period saw a fired up Storm battle hard against the Blaze, who matched them man for man on the ice. Mario Trabucco missed a guilt edged chance during the first period, after sustained pressure from the Storm, but he missed the open goal, much to the frustration of everyone in the building.

The second period saw a much more eager Coventry side take to the ice, & thet put the Storm on the back foot in the opening exchanges. With 9 minutes to go in the period, the first goal of the game was scored when Blaze Captain, Jordan Pietrus, was able to tip home off of a Godfrey shot from the point.

The third period saw the Storm come out ready to battle, and end to end hockey resumed once more. The Storm had plenty of chances to pull things level, however it was thanks to the man of the match performance of Brian Stewart in the Blaze net.

Storm continued to be relentless with their attacks, however with Mike Clemente pulled, and with 8 seconds to go, the Blaze doubled their lead with an empty net goal with Brian Robinson being awarded the goal. With the chance of a Storm goal diminishing, the Storm fans along with the Coventry Blaze fans, tossed their Teddy Bears onto the ice in aid of KEY103’s #MissionChristmas!

A massive thanks to all fans for donating so generously!

Storm will put the game behind them quickly and look ahead to tomorrows rematch against the Blaze, this time at the Skydome in Coventry.
