Manchester Storm Make Statement Signing with Three-Time All-Star Drydn Dow
Manchester Storm are thrilled to announce the signing of veteran blueliner and three-time All-Star Drydn Dow, most recently with the Dundee Stars.
The 33-year-old import defenseman has been a prominent figure with the Dundee Stars, where he spent all seven of his Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) seasons. In 369 league appearances for the Stars, Dow amassed an impressive 261 points (67 goals, 194 assists). This places him tied for third among all-time EIHL import defensemen, alongside Gleason Fournier and behind only Corey Neilson and Rod Sarich.
Beyond his playmaking abilities, Dow brings a wealth of experience and leadership. He served as captain from 2021-22 and took on a player-assistant coach role during the 2022-23 season. His individual accolades speak for themselves, including topping the goal-scoring charts among defensemen on three separate occasions. Furthermore, his proven powerplay prowess will be a huge asset to the Storm.
Dow, having agreed to take on a new challenge here in Manchester, commented:
“I’m really excited to be signing in Manchester for this season. Last year was a very strong season for the club so I’m excited to build on the momentum that was created here and make this season special.”
Head Coach Cameron Critchlow highlighted the addition as a significant statement of intent:
“I think anyone who has watched Elite League hockey in recent seasons will have been blown away by the skills Drydn possesses. He has been the cornerstone of another franchise within the league, and being able to acquire a plug-and-play top-four defensemen is massive for our side.
These truly are exciting times to be a Storm fan, and I am sure this type of signing will send a message to everyone else within the league.”
