Gilmour keen for away day joy

Manchester Storm forward Brady Gilmour admits there are some away points that have eluded them this season but is keen to put that right this weekend.

The team are off to the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday to face Nottingham Panthers as they try to end a run of eight straight losses on the road.

While six extra points have been picked up during this run, Gilmour is preferring to look ahead as they get ready for the Panthers.

“Obviously we would love to get a win on the road this weekend,” he said. “There are big points up for grabs with a team that’s in front of us so we’re going to go in there and put our best foot forward to try and get the win.

But I think that there are definitely a few games on the road that we would want back. I feel we’ve put ourselves in position to grab two points in a lot of those games but have only come out with one.

Overall, we can’t dwell on the past and we just have to continue to build and learn from some of those games to put us in a better position going forward.”

As Storm stand on the verge of clinching a play-off spot this weekend, Gilmour reflected on the positive aspects of being part of this team which has done well this season.

But he acknowledges there’s still work to be done as the final few weeks of the campaign loom into view.

He added: “We have a great group of guys this year. It’s been really fun to come to the rink every day and be a part of this team. It definitely translates on ice and we all love playing for one another.

As the regular season is starting to close out, it’s getting down to crunch time where every game and every point is meaningful. We’re just trying to get better as a group every single day and we’re enjoying that process.”
