Gilmour coy over confidence boost ahead of triple header
Manchester Storm forward Brady Gilmour is keen to keep the momentum going after the weekend’s four point pick-up but was quick to praise his team-mates for his own success.
Brady chalked up a goal and three assists in the victories over Guildford Flames on Saturday then away at Fife Flyers on Sunday.
But he insists, with three games in three nights coming up, focus is all about taking on each game one at a time.
“It’s always nice to contribute on the scoresheet and help the team in any way,” he said.
“But a lot of credit goes to my teammates and linemates over the past few games.
We’re just looking to hopefully keep the momentum going into big games ahead. This upcoming weekend will be tough with it being a three-in-three.
So it’ll be important for us to take care of our bodies and recover properly between games. But we are going to take it one game at a time and focus on our game Friday first and then go from there.”
Gilmour looked back on the weekend as Storm opened up a three-point gap over Guildford Flames, who have played two games more and who will be Friday’s opponents to kick the busy weekend off.
And he’s likened it to a post-season contest as each side look to finish as high as possible in the standings.
He added:
“It was nice to get two wins at the weekend. Going into the playoffs we want to make sure we’re ready, so trying to get better as a group every day is our focus.
I think we came out ready to play this past weekend. Our goalies played great and there were contributions from everyone in our lineup.
Guildford are a good team with a lot of offensive power who always give us a good test. We’re looking forward to the challenge and playing in another play-off-like game on Friday.”
