Dudek praises “resilient” Storm ahead of Cardiff visit

Storm forward JD Dudek said it felt good to score the winning penalty shot on Sunday and praised the team’s character as they get ready to face Cardiff Devils tomorrow.
The former Coventry man struck against his old team to take the extra point for Storm in a 3-2 win, ending last weekend with victory and bouncing back from Saturday’s home defeat to league leaders Nottingham Panthers.
And he admitted he was very much in his comfort zone when he skated up to take the crucial shot.
“I had great memories from my time in Coventry, but it felt good to get the clinching shootout goal in the Skydome and help my team get the extra point,” he said.
“I love shootouts and I feel very confident when I’m going into them so it was good to score the one to win it.
But it was extremely important we have a resilient group and we ride the waves really well. We don’t get too high or too low and just focus on the game at hand.  We showed up big time on this occasion”
Dudek says the team are in a good place as they prepare for a busy festive period, featuring three games to come next week after the Devils’ visit to the Storm Shelter on Sunday.
He added: “I feel we are in a really good spot. We’ve shown what we can do and now we know that that is the standard.  We just need the consistency of playing at the high level that we know how to.
“Any of these games near Christmas are important and it’s always exciting to get wins during the holiday season.
“We will be ready to go against Cardiff and they’re a team that we’ve built a nice rivalry with this season.”
