British Forward Rais Francis Commits to Another Two Years with the Storm
Manchester Storm are delighted to confirm the return of British forward Rais Francis for the next two seasons.
Francis made a strong impression both on and off the ice, with his imposing frame (6ft 6in) and engaging personality quickly making him a fan favourite.
His physical, high-energy playing style brought consistent intensity to the match night line-up, alongside the versatility to play both forward and defence when required.
In 54 EIHL league games, Francis recorded three goals and three assists, along with a disciplined return of just eight penalty minutes. The British forward was primarily deployed in a bottom-six role and grew steadily into the position over the course of his rookie professional campaign.
Francis spoke of his delight at returning to the club for another two years:
“I’m extremely happy to be back with the Storm for the next two seasons. After arriving in Manchester in August last year I was embraced as one of the Storms’ own from day one.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing for our coaching staff. We had a great group last season and I look forward to being a part of the team that they assemble.
The fans were unbelievable and I am really looking forward to being back with them and having that “Storm Shelter”energy in our new home next season.”
Head Coach Cameron Critchlow commented on bringing another member of the squad back:
“Rais was a pleasure to coach throughout the year. He arrived in Manchester relatively raw, but his work ethic and attitude were second to none. He fully earned consistent ice time from the turn of the calendar year, and having someone with his energy in the line-up really lifts those around him.
I believe he will build on the latter part of his rookie season and continue to push for greater minutes. The larger ice surface at home means we will be rolling all four lines at times, and I’m delighted to know Rais will be ready to contribute whenever he is called upon.”
