BREAKING | TAYLER THOMPSON LANDS IN MANCHESTER!

Manchester Storm are delighted to announce the signing of Tayler Thompson, mostly recently of Bredenbury Cougars (SaskEHL).

The Canadian centre started his professional career with Fayetteville FireAntz (SPHL) in 2015 and his two-year tenure in the division would prove productive, as the forward racked up 83 points (23G 60A) in 112 outings. The second year, 2016-17, saw Thompson top the SPHL scoring charts with 60 points (18G 42A) in 56 matches.

The 2017-18 campaign for Thompson started with Brest (France2) and ended with Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL), as the centre searched for consistency. The following year was spent in Orlando, as the Canadian carved out a role for himself in Florida.

In 2019-20, Thompson had a brief stint with Pirati Chomutov (Czech2) before returning to the Solar Bears for the remainder of the season. At this point in his career, Thompson had amassed 124 ECHL appearances and amassed 42 points (16G 26A) with 143 PIM’s.

In 2020-21, the forward has represented Bredenbury Cougars producing five goals and two assists in only two appearances.

Ryan Finnerty had this to say about his latest recruit:

Tayler arrives in Manchester eager to prove he can transition from North American hockey.

He knows that the Elite League standard has continued to increase and sees this is a real opportunity to kickstart the European chapter of his career.

He plays a hard-nosed game; he will finish his checks and I feel like he could be another energy guy within other line-up.

I am confident the fans will enjoy his style of play and his right-handed shot balances out our roster nicely. Tayler can play down the middle and on the wings, that kind of flexibility is something we have being looking to add and his consistent puck pressure will no doubt win the hearts of the Shelter’s faithful.
