Getting to the game – however you choose to travel!

It’s really easy to get to a Storm game, no matter which way you choose to travel. We play our home games at Planet Ice Altrincham (the “Storm Shelter“), located on Oakfield Road in the centre of town, right next to Altrincham Interchange. So if you’re planning to join us by public transport, we’ve got you covered!

Storm by Tram

Altrincham has a great Metrolink tram service, with trams leaving every few minutes – just turn up and go. All trams run direct to and from Manchester city centre in just 25 minutes, with trams continuing direct to either Bury or Manchester Piccadilly. From other lines, change at Cornbrook or Victoria for Altrincham services.
Most trams arrive and depart from Platform 1. Cross the footbridge and use the exit on Platform 4 right out onto the rink car park.

Storm By Train

Did you know you can get to us directly by train? Northern Railway services run every hour from Manchester Piccadilly via Stockport, and from Chester via Northwich and Knutsford. The service is less frequent on Sundays.

Trains towards Manchester arrive at Platform 3 and trains from Manchester arrive at Platform 4. Use the Platform 4 exit and the rink is there on your right.

Storm By Bus

Altrincham Interchange is a bus hub with regular buses to a wide range of destinations including Sale, Stretford, Lymm, Warrington, Knutsford, Manchester city centre, Wythenshawe, and the Trafford Centre. From the bus station, cross over the footbridge over the railway station to reach the rink.

Storm By Car

The postcode for Planet Ice Altrincham is WA15 8EW. There is a car park on site, run by Trafford Council. Parking is free after 6pm (Monday to Saturday) and free all day on Sundays. The rink car park does get very busy on match nights, so get here early to make sure you get a space – or why not take advantage of our great public transport options? Doors open one hour before face-off for all Storm matches.
