ALEX OLDALE PUTS PEN TO PAPER ON TWO-YEAR EXTENSION!

Manchester Storm are delighted to announce British netminder Alex Oldale has become the latest player to commit to the club, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract extension!

This deal will firmly establish Oldale in the Elite League, after spending this league campaign backing up Evan Weninger, with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss in 4 starts. His 90.6% save percentage shows how comfortable he is in an Elite League net. While he has replaced Weninger on three difficult occasions, he has shown over these 7 opportunities that he has the ability to play in this league. Therefore, this extension evidences the trust that Matt Ginn and Ryan Finnerty have in his abilities.

However, it’s not just his on-ice presence that earns him a place in this hockey club, his personality has undoubtedly lifted the spirits of this team throughout the course of the season. His new contract will make him a part of this squad’s core for the foreseeable future.

Head Coach Matt Ginn had this to say; We’re excited to re-sign Alex for the next two seasons and continue to watch him develop. He’s a promising, young goalie with a bright future ahead of him. Alex has got some game action this season, which is obviously an important step in his development, and played excellent. He gave us a chance to win each game and you could sense how the team and the fans rallied behind him. We look forward to continue working with Alex and seeing him continue to improve and take steps forward.

With this new deal, Oldale has become the latest of a bunch of players to commit their futures to the team, joining the likes of Tyler Hinam and Loren Ulett, who have also recently signed two-year extensions.

Alex Oldale commented on the big news;i’m really excited at the opportunity to further my time here in Manchester, i think this will be great for my development and is definitely the right place for me to be in order to be the best i can be.

It is an encouraging time for Storm fans with Matt Ginn starting to shape his team going forward. Catch Oldale in action tonight, as he makes the trip to Coventry, to make his 5th start of the season, then be sure to head on down to the Storm Shelter for one final time this regular season, as we play the Nottingham Panthers on Saturday 6th April 2024.
