FIFTH YEAR WITH STORM FOR STEPHEN JOHNSON
Manchester Storm are thrilled to confirm the return of forward Stephen Johnson for the 2026/27 EIHL campaign, extending his stay with the club into a fifth consecutive season.
The 31-year-old Canadian from Moncton, New Brunswick, enjoyed perhaps his most impactful season in a Storm jersey during the 2025/26 campaign. Following the transition of former teammate and long-time linemate Cameron Critchlow from the ice to the coaching staff, Johnson embraced an even greater leadership role within the dressing room and on the ice.
Johnson recorded 36 points (12G 24A) in 50 league appearances, once again proving to be one of the club’s most reliable and influential forwards.
His latest campaign takes his overall Storm league record to 203 appearances and 141 points (48 goals, 93 assists), while his importance to the organisation extends far beyond the scoresheet. A respected leader throughout his time in Manchester, Johnson has retained an alternate captaincy role during his tenure and continues to set the standard both on and off the ice through his work ethic, character and commitment to the team.
Head Coach Cameron Critchlow is delighted to retain his experience and work ethic as the team pushes for its first silverware:
“The relationship we have extends far beyond hockey and having one of my most dependable charges back for another campaigns makes my job a little easier.
Stevo can play up and down the line-up, he knows the league inside out by now and his hockey IQ is second to none. I know every member of the Storm faithful will be delighted to welcome him back for another year.”
The fifth year Storm man had this to say about his latest return:
“I’m happy to be back! I’ve really enjoyed being part of the organization for the past four years.
This season is shaping up to be a special one with the move to the AO and the group of guys we’ve brought in.
I’m excited to be part of it and help contribute to a winning culture.”
