Critchlow watching closely as Flames loom
Manchester Storm head coach Cameron Critchlow says this Saturday’s clash with Guildford Flames should be an easy one for the players to get up for.
Storm are fifth in the standings, with Paul Dixon’s side right behind them and a point behind as both teams meet for the first of three clashes before the end of the regular season.
And the importance of this game and the fixtures to follow are not lost on the Storm coach as he looks to take some momentum into the post season.
“We are closely monitoring the standings and are aware that Guildford is just behind us,”
he said.
“The next couple of games are crucial and we’re certainly looking forward to having the fans behind us.”
“It should be a pretty easy game to get up for. Games like these help define teams and individuals as big game players that rise to the occasion.”
Storm had mixed results, going down 2-1 to Coventry Blaze at home on Friday, but finally ended a losing run on the road by beating Fife Flyers 4-2 in Kirkcaldy.
Critchlow offered up his thoughts from the weekend and was pleased to get the points away from home.
“After a difficult night where things didn’t go our way on Friday, I thought we rebounded Sunday and showed some great character,”
he added.
“I thought the guys were bought in and worked hard and we deserved that result. We showed composure and maturity throughout the game, which is what I liked the most.”
