Caines having a great time with the Storm
Manchester Storm forward Harrison Caines says it’s a lot of fun right now and says the group are determined to take points from every weekend.
Storm defeated 2-1 Cardiff Devils on Saturday before going down 4-1 in Belfast on Sunday in the latest weekend of Elite League action.
But Caines insists everyone is having a great time, which is reflected by the relative success they’ve had.
“We are having a lot of fun right now and the room is in a great place,” he said.
“Everyone is enjoying coming to the rink every day, and that’s been translating on the ice. When things are clicking like they are right now and everyone’s energy is high we are a very dangerous team.
“Every weekend matters in this league, and with the standings so close we want to keep climbing the ladder.
“Our mindset is to win every night especially coming into the final half of the season. That mentality comes from the room everyone knows the importance of consistency. Taking something from the weekend is a big focus from our group.”
Caines looked back on the mixed bag of results but soon turned his attentions to the weekend, where Storm will kick things off with a visit from injury-hit Glasgow Clan at the Storm Shelter.
And he revealed Manchester will be looking to go for it from the off as they look to add to their good home form of four wins from their last five.
He added: “There were a lot of positives to take away from the weekend. The Cardiff game was a big win for us going forward and it proves we can beat the teams were looking to catch in the standings.
“Belfast was obviously a quick turnaround; however I thought we put forward a stronger effort than what the score showed.
“Even when things aren’t perfect, we are finding ways to stay in games and we have a chance to win every night.
“Looking ahead, Glasgow and teams in that situation often play with some edge, and urgency.
“We know how much depth teams in our league we have so don’t take any game lightly.
“However with Critchy’s game plan and our groups continued success we will look to take control of the game early.”
