Manchester Storm and Planet Ice Announce Community Partnership with Wythenshawe Foodbank

Manchester Storm and Planet Ice are delighted to announce a joint partnership with Wythenshawe Foodbank, commencing in January 2026.

Led by Storm in the Community, this collaboration will give our passionate fans the opportunity to help support those less fortunate within our local area.

Wythenshawe Foodbank was established in 2016 and has, sadly, seen demand for its services grow year on year. The foodbank currently supports more than 15,000 adults and children across Wythenshawe and surrounding areas.

Upon finalising the partnership, Wythenshawe Foodbank said:

“We are incredibly grateful to Manchester Storm and Planet Ice for their generous offer to support our Wythenshawe Foodbank. This support comes at a critical time, as we are experiencing record levels of demand and the need for food has never been greater. The donations will be used directly to ensure individuals and families in our community can access the support they urgently need. Your kindness will make a real and immediate difference, and we cannot thank you enough for standing with us during such a challenging period.”

Jamie Tildesley
, Group Food & Beverage Manager at Planet Ice, highlighted the importance of using Planet Ice venues to support local communities and provide practical help where it is needed most.

Planet Ice is proud to be part of this three-way partnership with Manchester Storm and Wythenshawe Foodbank. Community initiatives like this are incredibly important to us, and launching the partnership in January will help support the foodbank at a time when demand remains high. We’re delighted to work together to make a positive impact within the local community.

Manchester Storm’s Director of Operations, Mark Noakes, explained the thinking behind the partnership:

“Manchester Storm fans are known as the most loyal and passionate supporters in the EIHL. It is with that same passion and loyalty that we know they will get behind this partnership, helping families in our community who are less fortunate and in need of basic food provisions.”

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

At every Manchester Storm home game, there will be a donation drop-off point at each ticket entrance. All donations will be collected and delivered directly to Wythenshawe Foodbank for distribution.

WHAT CAN I DONATE?

To ensure donations can be stored and distributed effectively, we kindly request ONLY the following items:

  • Any tinned foods
  • Any securely packaged pasta or rice products

While we know your generosity may extend beyond this list, these items are currently the most urgently needed.

WHEN CAN I DONATE?

The partnership will officially launch at our home game against Belfast Giants on 3rd January 2026 and will continue at every home game throughout the 2025/26 season.

We know our amazing fans will fully support this initiative, and we thank you in advance for helping to make a real difference in our community.
