Critchlow ready for “crucial” time of the year

Manchester Storm head coach Cameron Critchlow says his team are heading into a vital team of the season, but knows there is work to do.

There are three games coming up this week, starting with the visit of Dundee Stars on Tuesday (Face off 7:30pm) before the Christmas double header against Guildford Flames later in the week.

And on the back of Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Cardiff Devils, Critch highlighted what he would like to see from his team in the first of those games.

“The effort was there to win the game (on Sunday),” he said. “However, the execution lacked on the powerplay, ultimately that resulted in the loss. We have some things we must clean up if we expect to win on Tuesday.

“Without a doubt this is a crucial part of the season, I expect the players to be ready for that challenge as we expect the results. If we do what we expect as a group that should put us in a good spot moving by forward.

“Overall, the message doesn’t change. I expect a hard direct physical brand of hockey from our team, and we need to make things harder on opposition goaltenders by getting to the dirty areas plus getting more pucks to the net.

“Specials teams are crucial at this time of year, and we need more from those guys.

“Dundee are always a dangerous team and while they are a little depleted right now, we expect them to come in and make things difficult on us.”
