Manchester Storm Reveal 2025–26 Captaincy Group

Manchester Storm are delighted to announce that #6 Chase Harrison will serve as the organisation’s 7th Captain in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) era. He’ll be supported by three Alternates: #12 Stephen Johnson, #14 Loren Ulett, and #77 Nick Welsh, each bringing their own strength and leadership to the locker room.

Captain Chase Harrison (#6)

Entering his fourth season in Storm colours, Harrison has become a cornerstone of Manchester’s defensive unit. Trusted in all situations, the Canadian blueliner has earned the respect of teammates and fans alike through his composure, consistency, and commitment. With more than 160 EIHL appearances under his belt, Harrison is perfectly placed to wear the “C” and lead the Storm into a new campaign.

  • Alternate Captain: Stephen Johnson (#12)

Also returning for his fourth season, Johnson is a reliable two-way forward with a reputation for hard work and clutch play. His energy on both sides of the puck and experience in key moments make him a natural voice in the dressing room.

  • Alternate Captain: Loren Ulett (#14)

Now in his third season, Ulett brings physicality, grit, and a powerful presence to both ends of the ice. Over his time with the Storm, he has displayed leadership in his style of play and attitude.

  • Alternate Captain: Nick Welsh (#77)

One of Manchester’s newest recruits, Welsh arrives with significant experience from across North America and Europe. A mobile, puck-moving defenceman with strong vision, he adds fresh perspective to the leadership group and will be counted on to steady the Storm blue line.

Head Coach Cam Critchlow on his leadership group…

“Chase has been a big piece of this club for a number of years and he’s shown his commitment to his teammates, the fans and the city of Manchester. He is a player that demonstrates leadership with his on ice play and has earned the respect of his team mates. We have a very strong supporting cast of assistant captains in Stephen, Loren and Nick who are all proven  players and more importantly  character people. There are numerous players in our locker room who stand out in leadership roles in our locker room and we know they will do an incredible job representing the club.”

With a blend of returning leaders and fresh faces, the Storm’s leadership group is ready to guide the team through the battles of the EIHL season. Harrison’s steady presence, Johnson’s consistency, Ulett’s edge, and Welsh’s poise form a leadership core that truly reflects the identity Storm fans are proud to support.
