Record attendances over holiday season

Over 80,000 fans packed into 20 games over Christmas and New Year, giving the highest overall attendance figures for the Elite League over this period.

In total, 80,745 fans attended games in Elite League areas from the period 26 December 2023 – 1 January 2024. The figure represents a 5.5% increase on the same set of games in 2022/2023, and a 12.9% compared to 2019/20*. This season’s fixtures averaged 4,037 fans per game.

Glasgow Clan set a franchise record crowd of 3,577 on Boxing Day against Belfast Giants – and then beat it again with 3,602 fans in Braehead Arena against Fife Flyers on 30 December. Dundee Stars’ crowd of 2,342 vs. Belfast was a record figure for them against the Giants. The Stars are also aiming for their first ever set of three games in a row with attendances over 2,100.

Belfast Giants, Cardiff Devils, Manchester Storm, Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers all logged sell-out games over the festive period.

*Attendances for 2021/22 were impacted by COVID-19 restrictions in place in Scotland and Wales.
